That Bar Appears To Be Getting Bigger

| | Comments (0)

Last week we saw two major events for Mason. First, we cut the tip of his binky off. We used this technique with Chase and had pretty good success. Mason didn't accept this method. Rather than use a broken binky he has chosen to go cold turkey. He still wakes up once in a while and tries to moan himself back to sleep. He has done surprisingly well considering the suddenness of the situation.

To make things more difficult, last Thursday Mason had his most serious accident yet. Lately the babies have been obsessed with climbing on chairs. Actually, obsession might not be a strong enough word. It's almost as if everything in their life so far has been leading up to their ability to climb on the kitchen chairs. Mason got up on a kitchen chair and before Emilie could get him down his chair starting tipping over. He ended-up hitting the bar across the bottom of his high chair face first. His nose was bleeding and began swelling up considerably. Emilie called the doctor's office and they indicated that there wasn't much that could be done for babies that injure their noses. Since the bones haven't developed it isn't likely the nose would actually break. So, on top of having his face bruised he also has no binky comfort. He's taking it all very well, though.

Anyway, the swelling is pretty much gone by now and the shape is returning to normal. He still has some horrible looking bruising around his nose and eyes. At risk of seeming like a horrible parent I'll post a picture for the sake of history:
