I Bloging
I took this last week off from work and you would think I could have snuck in a few minutes here and there to update the blog. This week was action-packed as I tried to make the most of my time away from work.
On Tuesday I decided to take an afternoon bike ride up Toll Road. I'm not sure how popular this area is for mountain biking since I couldn't find many references to the ride on the web - just a short blurb at the bottom of VisitRenoTahoe.com. The weather was so awesome that when I reached 341 at the top of Toll Road I decided to keep going. Since I was so close to Virginia City at that point I just finished it off. It took me almost exactly 2 hours to get from my house to Virginia City. Unfortunately, the climb back to Geiger Summit from Virginia City was unfriendly. The whole trip took me about 3.5 hours and clocked in at around 22 miles. And now I can honestly say I've done it and I never have to do it again.
I finished the vacation with a quick skip to the top of Mt. Rose with Mike. We hit the trail at about 8:15a this morning and met few fellow hikers on the trail on the way up. The weather at the top was amazing - perfect temperature and nary a wisp of wind. We spent a bit basking in the warm love that Ms. Rose has for her native sons and then hit the trail back down. There were quite a few hikers on their way up as we were making our way down. We finished the hike a little in excess of four hours.
That's about it for my personal adventures during my week off. I'll follow-up shortly with baby stuff...
