Squirrelly Neighbors
We are quickly running out of time at our current home. After much drama we are finally set to start moving into our new home today. There's a certain amount of sadness for several reasons. This is the home we've lived in longer than any other home since we've been married. We've put a lot of work into this house. Most importantly, this is the only home any of our kids have ever known.
While we're very sad to be leaving this house, there are a few things that give us comfort. First of all, our nutty-neighbor has really kicked it up a notch. She now has two dogs that bark a lot. The birds that she feeds start their chirping at 4:30 in the morning most mornings! She smokes a lot, which makes our backyard smells like cigarette smoke. She talks on the phone outside and is very loud. This causes me to hear profanity that I would prefer not to hear, plus I know more about her personal life than I want to know. The music had been a continuing annoyance until recently.
All of this led up to our most recent adventure. Since our neighbor is such a big fan of bird feeders she eventually attracted at least one squirrel. The problem is that the squirrel feeds on her birdseed and then comes to our sandbox to eat it. The squirrel dug a hole through and under the sandbox, where it lives now, as far as we can tell.

I'm still trying to figure how to deal with it. Filling in the hole didn't work and most of the humane control options are not safe to use around kids. I'm pretty sure the squirrel's days are numbered. And it's a single digit number.
Aaaaaaaanyway, the bottom line is that there are some factors that help to make us less sad that we're leaving this house. Still, it's going to hard to leave...
