The Toothy Anniversary of Biking
The biggest news lately is that Chase is finally getting some teeth. His two bottom teeth finally broke through early this week. They don't seem to be hurting or bothering him, which is good for all of us. He's also discovered his tongue. Between the tongue and the teeth he does some pretty funny things with his mouth - none of which make him look anything like a genius.
We had our anniversary last week, but unfortunately Emilie had to work that whole evening. It made the actual evening of our anniversary a little lackluster; however, we made up for it by going out on Saturday. We took Chase with us to see Lady in the Water. Of course, everyone stared at us for bringing a baby to a "scary" movie. It wasn't really a scary movie, though. It's more of a fantasy. Anyway, Chase did pretty good. We mostly just wanted to see how he would do at a movie.
After the movie we went to Macaroni Grill. Elise was working there, so we were treated exceptionally well. I had Sicilian Pizza and Emilie had Shrimp Portofino (I think). Since it was a celebratory meal, we had New York Cheesecake with chocolate sauce for dessert. When we received the bill we found that they had given us a special discount, which made the whole day even better.
It was good that our anniversary celebration went well, because mountain biking was lacking. I planned on going early on Saturday morning, but as I was getting ready I found that my tires were a little low. While inflating the back tire I ended up blowing the tube. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal except that I didn't have a spare. Of all the places that sell the tire I needed, REI is the place that opened the earliest. They don't open until 10a, so by the time I got a new tube, replaced the old one and got to the trail it was already 11a. The day was warm so it was especially tiring. To make matters most exciting, I had over-inflated the tires so my ride down was a little scarier than usual. Anyway, a bad day mountain biking is still a very good day.
We're getting ready for our forthcoming vacation, which should be fun. It better be.
