A Coke and a Smile

|

After last night's devastating episode where Constantine was booted off the show instead of Clay Trachen, Drudge posted another story about a contestant. It turns out that Bo Bice was arrested for felony cocaine possession, according to The Smoking Gun. I was hoping that this would mean that he's booted from the show, but no such luck.

After reading about the drug charges I decided to look at his profile on the AI web page. A couple items caused me to laugh. These items, specifically:

  • He lists one of his talents as "...I have a recording studio at home"
  • He lists Metallica as an album his friends would be surprised that he owns
  • Matchbox Twenty is listed as his favorite male pop artist
  • He received "formal training in high school choir"
  • I think we know all that we need to know about Bo Bice. It's time for him to join the ranks of Claiken.

    Bunko's, Birthdays, and Stampin Up

    |

Well I had my first party at the house last night. We had Bunko and it turned out good. The ladies had alot of fun. Had a few people that I hadnt seen in awhile like Emily Giles, Jennifer Sadler and Mariann Turley over. I made a chicken tortilla soup and salad, man I am a good cook when I try new things. I just need to keep trying new things even though they dont sound tasty, maybe they will be tasty.
I plan on having a Stampin Up Party on May 5th. IF anyone wants to come let me know on the shout box. If anyone wants to join our new Bunko group let me know on the shout box. I usually do not have parties but I actually like this Stampin Up stuff. Hopefully people will come. I have only had one other party and that was like 3 years ago. I had a Tupperware party and no one came. That bit the big one. Hopefully since I go to everyones parties and then some, someone might actually come to one I host. I also plan on having a Pampered Chef party later this summer. I still do not like having parties so that will probably be it for me.
Today is my Birthday, I am 29, crazy huh! Plan on having dinner with my mom and sister tonight, got some sweet gifts from Brad this morning. The new Anna Nolick cd, Lacoste perfume, a book by Sherry Dew and some chocolate.
SO I'm liking the house, still need to fill it with stuff but that will come. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be getting some blinds so people dont peek in our house anymore, not like they have, but they could be.

    Speakin', Cachin' and Unpackin'

    |

Emilie and I are speaking in church tomorrow. That's the real downside to moving - you always have to speak in the new ward. Emilie will be explaining to us why profanity and gossip is bad (I'm anxious about this because I haven't been able to think of any reasons on my own) and I'll be talking about the power of example. Conveniently, this is the exact same topic I spoke about last time I spoke. Inconveniently, I have no trace or memory of that talk except for the topic.

There isn't much left to be done in the new house. Most of the boxes are unpacked and everything's pretty much put away. We were lucky because we don't own very much stuff; however, since we now have a larger home we will probably end up with more stuff. Eventually we'll need some funiture for our front room. We already ordered a bedroom set a couple months ago, which we still don't have. It should be here by mid-May.

So, to commit myself to some goals today, I will be finishing my talk, unpacking the rest of my boxes, updating the house part of the web page and geocaching. My geocaching goal for the day is three caches.

This whole topic came about as the result of a joke. If you go to HomoDepot.com it takes you to the Home Depot web page. A Whois search reveals that HomeDepot.com and HomoDepot.com are both owned and maintained by The Home Depot. Be careful, though! There is a site that is remarkably similar that is indeed a "Homo Depot".

I don't know why, but I've developed a mild obsession with the music of Jack Johnson. I have no idea what he's singing about, but the music just speaks to me! I'm scared to see who's next. The last time I got hooked on a certain musician it was Charlotte Martin. I'm pretty much over that, though. Very weird. I'm losing control of my musical taste. Prog and classic rock still rule the scene.

It's official as of yesterday. I signed the papers for the new job and I'll be starting there on May 9th. There's quite a bit of anxiety since I've been at my current job so long. I'm not sure entirely what to expect, but I know several people at the new place and it's definitely a job I can do. I'm sure it will be good. I just have to remember that what doesn't kill us only makes us wish we were dead.

    The World Through Rose-Colored Eyes

    |

Allergies continue to plague me. At first it was the rats that my parents were watching for my sister's family. Then it was the new house. Since there is still a significant amount of construction happening around the area I think dust is continuing to cause problems. There is a small ranch right around the corner that grows hay and has cattle, etc. I think that may be part of it too - perhaps the biggest part. Tonight we had a goodbye party for one of my previous bosses. He's leaving the company, so we went over to Sparky's for pizza and stuff. The smoke there didn't help any. Anyway, I've had sore, red eyes for about three weeks straight.

Soooooo...Sparky's. After hanging out at Sparky's for a while they whipped out the karaoke setup. I was dragged into singing with a few people, which was bad enough. One of my cow-orkers put my name in to sing alone, which I ended up doing against my better judgement. Anyway, everyone got a good laugh. I was horrible. I sounded better that Clay Trachen, though. Photos were taken - I'll put some up when I get them from whoever it is that's going to exploit me.

It's late - today was another crhappy day at work. Time to go home and crash...

It's turning out to be a pretty exciting week and/or month. I did my second interview on Monday and was offered a job. I accepted and will start at the new place in early May. I don't have anything in writing so I haven't given notice yet, but things are looking good. Things become increasingly painful at my current job, so this will be a much needed change.

I performed a semi-complex repair job on our fridge yesterday. A valve from the water filtration system broke sometime during the move. We suspect that it had water in it that happened to freeze while it was in storage. The feat, which included the identifying and ordering of replacement parts, was so amazing that I almost thought about a career change - fridge repair has got to be a satisfying and profitable career, I'd imagine.

I've decided that my favorite radio show has got to be The Glenn Beck Program. Rush is a classic and will always be at the top, but Glenn is the best for pure entertainment. I didn't realize it until just now, but he is on KPTL-AM 1300. I hadn't ever heard of the station before, but I did a search for Reno affiliates and that one came up. They also have Tony Snow, who I like very much. I listen to Glenn Beck on XM Radio, but it's good to see he's on AM, too. Definitely listen to him when you get a chance.

By the way, has anyone tried any of the new finger foods at Wendy's? I was so excited to try them that I couldn't stop biting my nails! At least, I think they were my nails...

    Shop at Rogers

    |

After a long Friday night and a distressing Saturday, Emilie was quickly arriving at the end of her figurative rope. She was becoming cranky and depressed and just generally pleasant to be with. We were on our way to scour the ground at Sam and Lisa's apartment complex (since Emilie had been there the night before) and we stopped by Rogers Jewelry to find out how much a replacement diamond would cost. It turns out that the ring was still under warranty and they are replacing the diamond for free. Emilie was crying and there was much rejoicing. The funny thing is that the warranty runs out next month. The moral of the story is that you should shop at Rogers because they rock.

The excitement of the day didn't end there. Mike has been making a silent movie for the Institute's SNL activity. Since I have the CD burner, the movie editing software, the video camera, etc., Mike was depending on me to help him get the movie ready. His car broke down Friday night and a series of slight delays caused us the finish the movie just in time to jump in the car and rush over to the church for delivery. Anyway, it turned out good. I'm sure he'll make the movie available on his webpage - you can watch for that.

So, amidst all the trials, there is a happy ending.

Speaking of happy endings, I have a second interview tomorrow. Hopefully it works out so that I can move on to brighter paths.

    Isn't It About...Time?

    |

Well, we've had our house for over a week and have been living in it for almost a week. It's about time I make my first official blog entry from within the confines of the new residence. We have enough things unpacked to live, but there are still several boxes in the garage. I think all of them are mine - books and computer junk, I bet. I've avoided unpacking them because I don't want to.

There's something about the new house that is causing a seemingly permanent redness in my eyes. It looks like I have pink eye or something. I don't know if it's something about the building materials or possibly something from the nearby ranch.

I was going to take a picture of my nasty eyeballs, but the world came to a screeching halt as Emilie realized that the diamond from her wedding ring is missing. We just got back from driving to a few different places that she was at today, but no luck. We've scoured the house, the driveway and several parking lots. Maybe I could organize a cache event and get all those eagle-eyed cachers to help hunt for it. Surely no "stone" shall escape their scrutiny!

It's late. I'm off to bed. Tomorrow holds all sorts of new diamond hunting adventures!

    This is Whack

I got my first Googlewhack yesterday with "hyperbolic transubstantiationalist". Yippee!
