Homeless
It's official - Emilie and I are homeless as of about 1:00p today. We spent the past week feverishly putting our belongings in storage. I went home to get the remaining stuff (a bunch of garbage) and found that a moving truck was parked in front of the house. They were ready to move in before we even finished moving out. I loaded up the trash to take to the dump and then proceeded to drive down my street one last time before the house was to become someone else's. It was sad, but I'm sure well get over it once we have another home.
Speaking of other homes, nothing has changed with the new house since the last photo was taken, in case you were wondering where the daily updates are. All the surrounding homes are being framed, so it's got to be close for ours, although we've already received word that they're a month behind schedule.
As I type this I am downloading SP2 for XP. I've successfuly installed it on one computer and caused one computer's performance to drop by about half. The average isn't too good. I'm particuarly annoyed about SP2 because I need a patch that is included with SP2 for a problem we're having at work, but we can't load SP2 yet. The patch can be installed separately, but you have to contact Microsoft support to get it. To contact Microsoft support you have to pay $99. I don't understand why I should pay them for a patch to fix a bug in their system. I'm sure that our company has a support agreement and I'm sure I won't be charged once I explain the problem, but it's still a huge inconvenience. The problem is that XP doesn't correctly recognize permissions when trying to connect to a web printer (as described in KB article 811230). Administrators can conect fine - Power User and Users cannot.
So we're living here with mom and dad. Now that I have no home to work on, no lawn to mow, etc. I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to tell and lots of time to tell them. Keep the edge of your seat warm! You'll definitely be using it!
