Bittersweet
This week was one of mixed emotions. I've experienced one of my higher highs, but also one of my lower lows.
On the one hand, I found my second FTF (First To Find in geocaching speak). My First FTF came on Wednesday of last week. I was very excited about that - especially to get two so close together.
On the other hand, we lost a dear member of our family. I, unfortunately, was given the task of taking the remains to the dump. It shouldn't have been so sad, though. The remains had been sitting in my computer room for months. Lifeless. I had taken the day off from work quite a while back and decided to play some video games. I turned on the TV and Playstation and went to the kitchen for some refreshment. I walked back into the room and noticed a strange smell. I quickly shuffled around the room to find the source of the smell and finally traced it back to the smoking corpse of the television. I quickly unplugged it from the wall, but it was too late.
That television had been with our family for many years. It had shown me my first episodes of Sledge Hammer! as well as the winning moment when Kelly Clarkson triumphed at the conclusion of the first season of American Idol.
I thought about taking some pictures of the TV for memories sake, but it just seemed too morbid. I went to Waste Management on Commercial Row, quietly backed my truck up to the fill and with a gentle toss said goodbye to a dear friend.
TV, you will be missed.
